Kamakura Kajiwara Retail Facility Project (tentative name)
Summer 2026 (scheduled)
This retail facility is being developed near the new Muraoka-Shin Station (tentative name), which is scheduled to become the first new station on the JR Tokaido Line in 107 years.
Project overview
MCUD is developing this retail facility on the former site of a Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. factory. The company plans to develop the facility with a supermarket and home center as its core tenants, creating a facility that will enrich everyday living for the community and contribute to building a vibrant urban area.
About the location
The location is a quiet residential zone between the ancient capital of Kamakura and the Shonan beach area, 7 minutes by foot from Shonan-Fukasawa Station on the Shonan Monorail Enoshima Line.
In October 2023, plan approval was received for the Muraoka-Fukazawa District Land Rezoning Project, a project of the Urban Renaissance Agency on the north side of the project site. Work on the project began, with completion slated for 2033. As a component of the district rezoning project, Muraoka-Shin Station (tentative name) is scheduled to open in 2032 as the first new station on the JR Tokaido Line in 107 years. The retail facility project site is located within a 1-km radius of the planned train station site. Urban development connected to the station's opening is expected to further invigorate commercial and community activity.
